SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Thursday, April 14, 2016, as Louisiana
Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize Thursday, April 14, 2016, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver
3 Day.
4 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver was founded on November 7, 1909, for the
5purposes of recognizing the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man and of executing
6commendable works of Catholic action, particularly through the practice of spiritual and
7corporal works of mercy; and
8 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary is the largest and
9oldest black Catholic organization in the United States; and
10 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver have rendered service
11to their churches and communities across the state for over one hundred and three years; and
12 WHEREAS, the more than seven hundred officers, delegates, and visitors to the
13Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary are
14convening in the capitol city of Baton Rouge for their seventy-second annual state
15conference; and
16 WHEREAS, the continued service of the members of the Louisiana State Conference
17of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary merits sincere commendation and
18recognition.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana State Conference of the
21Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary upon the celebration of its seventy-second

1annual state conference and does hereby commend these exceptional men and women for
2their continued service and commitment to the state of Louisiana.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
4recognizes Thursday, April 14, 2016, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
6to Corey Jeanlouis, president of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter
7Claver and Paula Jordan, President of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary.
