CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Royce E. Williford
1 A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Royce E.
3 Williford.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Royce
6E. Williford on Friday, March 11, 2016, at the age of eighty-three; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Williford served on the Avoyelles Parish School Board for twelve
8years and as president of the school board for eight years; for thirty-one dedicated years, he
9drove a school bus for Rapides Parish; and
10 WHEREAS, he was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and the Pine Grove
11Cemetery Board; and
12 WHEREAS, as a cattleman and crop farmer, Mr. Williford enjoyed raising Brahman
13cattle, horses, and pigs; he also found joy in deer hunting with his dogs; and
14 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Lynn Williford; his
15parents, Starlin and Bernice Hines Williford; and his brother, Ray Williford; and
16 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Karen Williford; his son,
17Pete Williford; his sister, Nelwyn Perkins; and his sister-in-law, Katherine Williford; and
18 WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Williford, Louisiana has lost one her finest
19citizens; and

1 WHEREAS, although the death of Royce E. Williford has left a tremendous void in
2his community, his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and
3loved him.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
6death of Royce E. Williford; does hereby record for posterity his outstanding
7accomplishments and singular contributions; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation
8for the tremendous pride and honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to his family
9and friends, his community, and the state of Louisiana.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
11to the family of Royce E. Williford.
