CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Dallas W. Greene, former fire
chief for the Shreveport Fire Department
1 A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Dallas W.
3 Greene, former fire chief for the Shreveport Fire Department.
4 WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Dallas W. Greene, former fire
6chief for the Shreveport Fire Department, on Monday, January 11, 2016, at the age of ninety-
7two; and
8 WHEREAS, Dallas W. Greene joined the Shreveport Fire Department on April 15,
91942; for twenty-four years, Mr. Greene served with great passion as the fire chief for the
10Shreveport Fire Department, and he ultimately retired in 1989 after forty-seven years of
11dedicated service; and
12 WHEREAS, Dallas W. Greene was valued as a member of the Shreveport Fire
13Department and was a constant thread of stability and a highly respected leader who helped
14build and renovate at least fifteen fire stations and facilities during his time as fire chief; and
15 WHEREAS, in his forty-seven years of service as a firefighter, Dallas W. Greene
16faithfully served the citizens of Shreveport, and all members of the Shreveport Fire
17Department will continue to benefit from this extraordinary man's leadership; and
18 WHEREAS, although the death of Dallas W. Greene has left a tremendous void in
19his community and his family, his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all
20who knew and loved him.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
3death of Dallas W. Greene, former fire chief for the Shreveport Fire Department; does
4hereby record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and contributions; and does
5hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that this wonderful
6man will forever bring to his family, friends, and community, the city of Shreveport, and the
7state of Louisiana.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
9to the family of Dallas W. Greene.
