HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 68

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority for its extraordinary efforts in
improving the quality of life for the people it serves.
WHEREAS, the vision of Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NE Delta
HSA) is to build a unified northeast Louisiana where individuals are capable of thriving and
reaching their full human potential; and
WHEREAS, on March 31, 2015, NE Delta HSA announced a new tobacco cessation
program for its clients in northeast Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, according to the Louisiana Public Health Institute, the state of Louisiana
ranks forty-third in the nation in smoking prevalence; tobacco use leads to more deaths each
year than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drug use, and murders and suicides combined;
and
WHEREAS, NE Delta HSA provides clear and personalized smoking cessation
strategies to its clients by delivering effective, proven education and intervention; and
WHEREAS, tobacco cessation is a program within NE Delta HSA's integrated
healthcare model, which helps provide citizens with access to behavioral and primary
healthcare services; and
WHEREAS, NE Delta HSA merits a special measure of commendation for its
tobacco cessation program and its efforts in improving the quality of life for the people in
northeast Louisiana.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Northeast Delta Human Services
Authority for improving the quality of life for the people in northeast Louisiana and does
hereby recognize its smoking cessation services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the executive director of the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority.
