COMMENDATIONS: Commends Paul Andrew Solis for his many accomplishments
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Paul Andrew Solis for his many accomplishments.
3 WHEREAS, Paul Andrew Solis is a notable Louisiana citizen who deserves
4recognition for his extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to his community, the
5state of Louisiana, and the United States of America; and
6 WHEREAS, in 1965, Mr. Solis graduated from Port Sulphur High School; in 1971,
7he graduated from Southeastern University with a bachelors degree in animal science, and
8he furthered his education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a
9masters degree in education administration in 1989; and
10 WHEREAS, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and received
11a Vietnam Veteran Purple Heart Award; and
12 WHEREAS, he served as the athletic director, the head football coach, and the head
13track coach for Boothville-Venice High School from 1975 until 2005; he also was a bus
14driver for the school; and
15 WHEREAS, during his remarkable tenure at Boothville-Venice High School, Coach
16Solis attained many records for the football team as the head coach; his teams held a 199-
17123-2 record, won district championships, made an appearance in the semifinal round of the
18playoffs, made six quarterfinal appearances, and reached the playoffs 23 out of 30 years of
19his coaching; and
20 WHEREAS, due to Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, Coach Solis never
21achieved his two hundredth win as the head football coach; although Hurricane Katrina

1destroyed Boothville-Venice High School, Coach Solis continued in his path as an educator
2and a school bus driver; and
3 WHEREAS, Coach Solis was named district coach of the year six times and all-
4Westbank coach of the year two times; and
5 WHEREAS, he is the loving husband of Amelia Gayle Breazeale, the proud father
6of Walter Barrett Solis, Andrew Kea Solis, Jean Paul Achee' Solis, and Mary Amelia
7Morgan Solis Green, and the grandfather of Davis Walker Solis, Morgan Solis, Cali Ann
8Fava, and Reed Paul Solis; and
9 WHEREAS, Paul Andrew Solis deserves a sincere measure of commendation for his
10accomplishments and contributions to his community, the state of Louisiana, and the United
11States of America.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
13Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Paul Andrew Solis for his extraordinary
14accomplishments and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and
15happiness.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
17to Paul Andrew Solis.
