HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 78
BY REPRESENTATIVE LEOPOLD
A RESOLUTION
To commend Paul Andrew Solis for his many accomplishments.
WHEREAS, Paul Andrew Solis is a notable Louisiana citizen who deserves
recognition for his extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to his community, the
state of Louisiana, and the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, in 1965, Mr. Solis graduated from Port Sulphur High School; in 1971,
he graduated from Southeastern University with a bachelors degree in animal science, and
he furthered his education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a
masters degree in education administration in 1989; and
WHEREAS, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and received
a Vietnam Veteran Purple Heart Award; and
WHEREAS, he served as the athletic director, the head football coach, and the head
track coach for Boothville-Venice High School from 1975 until 2005; he also was a bus
driver for the school; and
WHEREAS, during his remarkable tenure at Boothville-Venice High School, Coach
Solis attained many records for the football team as the head coach; his teams held a 199-
123-2 record, won district championships, made an appearance in the semifinal round of the
playoffs, made six quarterfinal appearances, and reached the playoffs 23 out of 30 years of
his coaching; and
WHEREAS, due to Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, Coach Solis never
achieved his two hundredth win as the head football coach; although Hurricane Katrina
destroyed Boothville-Venice High School, Coach Solis continued in his path as an educator
and a school bus driver; and
WHEREAS, Coach Solis was named district coach of the year six times and all-
Westbank coach of the year two times; and

WHEREAS, he is the loving husband of Amelia Gayle Breazeale, the proud father
of Walter Barrett Solis, Andrew Kea Solis, Jean Paul Achee' Solis, and Mary Amelia
Morgan Solis Green, and the grandfather of Davis Walker Solis, Morgan Solis, Cali Ann
Fava, and Reed Paul Solis; and
WHEREAS, Paul Andrew Solis deserves a sincere measure of commendation for his
accomplishments and contributions to his community, the state of Louisiana, and the United
States of America.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Paul Andrew Solis for his extraordinary
accomplishments and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and
happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Paul Andrew Solis.
