COMMENDATIONS: Commends the organizers and volunteers of the 2016 Plaquemines
Parish Fair and Orange Festival, Orange Queen Devin Renee Kaliszeski, and Teen
Orange Queen Madison Lee Coludrovich
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the organizers and volunteers of the 2016 Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange
3 Festival, Orange Queen Devin Renee Kaliszeski, and Teen Orange Queen Madison
4 Lee Coludrovich.
5 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the organizers and volunteers of the
6Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival, held annually in December in Buras,
7Louisiana; and
8 WHEREAS, it was in 1947 that the citizens of Plaquemines Parish organized the first
9Plaquemines Parish Orange Festival to promote the cultivation and marketing of the parish's
10citrus crop; and
11 WHEREAS, renamed the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival in 1955, this
12unique event has long been a beloved tradition for the people of Plaquemines Parish and
13beyond; and
14 WHEREAS, the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival is a family-friendly
15celebration featuring the parish's signature food, entertainment, contests, crafts, novelties,
16and hospitality; and
17 WHEREAS, Devin Renee Kaliszeski, a young woman of many gifts and talents,
18reigns as the current Orange Queen with great distinction and dedication, and Madison Lee
19Coludrovich reigns as the current Teen Orange Queen; and

1 WHEREAS, the organizers and volunteers of the Plaquemines Parish Fair and
2Orange Festival have persevered through numerous freezes and hurricanes, earning the
3respect, admiration, and enduring appreciation of their fellow citizens; and
4 WHEREAS, the organizers and volunteers of the 2016 Plaquemines Parish Fair and
5Orange Festival merit a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for the tremendous
6pride and honor that this wonderful annual event brings to the citizens of Louisiana.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the organizers and volunteers of the 2016
9Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival, Orange Queen Devin Renee Kaliszeski, and
10Teen Orange Queen Madison Lee Coludrovich and does hereby recognize this extraordinary
11fair and festival as an integral part of the culture and history of Plaquemines Parish and the
12state of Louisiana.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
14to the organizers of the 2016 Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival.
