COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Arcadia High School girls' basketball team upon
winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Arcadia High School girls' basketball team upon winning the 2016 Class
3 1A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Arcadia High School girls' basketball team completed a sensational
5season, earning the title of 2016 Class 1A state champions after defeating Merryville High
6School by a score of 66-62 at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Allstate Sugar
7Bowl Girls' Top 28 Tournament; and
8 WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets were led by Khelsea Foster, who scored eleven points
9over a three and a half minute stretch and was named the most outstanding player of the
10game; and
11 WHEREAS, the 2015-2016 Arcadia High School girls' basketball team consists of
12Te`Arra Hull, Tamera Mackey, Carmen Cade, Aryel Foster, Madison Haulcy, Khelsea
13Foster, Letricia Baker, Jasmine Moore, Shacorey Rochelle, Zynashaia Fielding, DeAndre`a
14Alexander, Shandreal Richardson, Bryanica Houston, and Deaquanita Dill; and
15 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
16without the guidance and skills of head coach Ruby Smith Qualls and assistant coaches
17DeAndre Alexander and Chelsea Rogers, as well as all of the other individuals who have
18contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and
19 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2015-2016 season upholds the glorious tradition
20of the Hornets, and all Arcadia High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride
21and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Arcadia High School girls' basketball
3team upon winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship and does hereby extend best
4wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program as
5they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
7to head coach Ruby Smith Qualls.
