CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the deaths of Khaiden M. Ramsey and
Samuel K. Shropshire
1 A RESOLUTION
2To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the House of Representatives upon the
3 deaths of Khaiden Michael Ramsey and Samuel Kingston Shropshire.
4 WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the deaths of Khaiden Michael Ramsey at the
6age of six and Samuel Kingston Shropshire at the age of four on Sunday, April 10, 2016; and
7 WHEREAS, Khaiden and Samuel's fellow citizens sincerely mourn their deaths,
8which were the result of a tragic automobile accident; and
9 WHEREAS, Khaiden and Samuel deserve honor and recognition and a sincere
10measure of posthumous gratitude for the joy that they brought to their family, friends, and
11community and all who knew them; and
12 WHEREAS, Khaiden and Samuel are survived by their mother, Michelle Ramsey;
13their father, Taurean Shropshire; their stepfather, Keon Washington; their sisters, Kaylee
14Ramsey and Haleigh Shropshire; their brother, Taurean Cotton; their grandparents, Michael
15and Janice Sampson and Mertice Shropshire; their aunts, Shaundricka Tezeno Hope,
16Cassandra Tezeno, Daphane Tezeno, and Darcell Shropshire; their uncle, Wilbert Tezeno,
17Jr.; and an array of extended family members and friends; and
18 WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives empathize with
19the tremendous pain that Khaiden and Samuel's family and friends are suffering due to their
20untimely deaths and join them in mourning the loss of these two wonderful children; and

1 WHEREAS, the tragic loss of Khaiden and Samuel is magnified by the fact that we
2are only left to imagine the contributions they might have made to their fellow citizens had
3their lives not been so unexpectedly ended; and
4 WHEREAS, although the deaths of these precious individuals have left a tremendous
5void in their community, their memories shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who
6loved them.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
9deaths of Khaiden Michael Ramsey and Samuel Kingston Shropshire and does hereby
10extend the hope that their family and friends will be granted the strength they need to cope
11with the tragic loss of these beloved children.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
13to the family of Khaiden M. Ramsey and Samuel K. Shropshire.
