HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 83

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the House of Representatives upon the
deaths of Khaiden Michael Ramsey and Samuel Kingston Shropshire.
WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the deaths of Khaiden Michael Ramsey at the
age of six and Samuel Kingston Shropshire at the age of four on Sunday, April 10, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Khaiden and Samuel's fellow citizens sincerely mourn their deaths,
which were the result of a tragic automobile accident; and
WHEREAS, Khaiden and Samuel deserve honor and recognition and a sincere
measure of posthumous gratitude for the joy that they brought to their family, friends, and
community and all who knew them; and
WHEREAS, Khaiden and Samuel are survived by their mother, Michelle Ramsey;
their father, Taurean Shropshire; their stepfather, Keon Washington; their sisters, Kaylee
Ramsey and Haleigh Shropshire; their brother, Taurean Cotton; their grandparents, Michael
and Janice Sampson and Mertice Shropshire; their aunts, Shaundricka Tezeno Hope,
Cassandra Tezeno, Daphane Tezeno, and Darcell Shropshire; their uncle, Wilbert Tezeno,
Jr.; and an array of extended family members and friends; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives empathize with
the tremendous pain that Khaiden and Samuel's family and friends are suffering due to their
untimely deaths and join them in mourning the loss of these two wonderful children; and
WHEREAS, the tragic loss of Khaiden and Samuel is magnified by the fact that we
are only left to imagine the contributions they might have made to their fellow citizens had
their lives not been so unexpectedly ended; and

WHEREAS, although the deaths of these precious individuals have left a tremendous
void in their community, their memories shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who
loved them.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
deaths of Khaiden Michael Ramsey and Samuel Kingston Shropshire and does hereby
extend the hope that their family and friends will be granted the strength they need to cope
with the tragic loss of these beloved children.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Khaiden M. Ramsey and Samuel K. Shropshire.
