COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Arcadia High School boys' basketball team upon
winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Arcadia High School boys' basketball team upon winning the 2016 Class
3 1A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Arcadia High School boys' basketball team completed a sensational
5season, earning the title of 2016 Class 1A state champions after defeating Southern Lab by
6a score of 55-48 to win the state championship game at the Louisiana High School Athletic
7Association Allstate Sugar Bowl Boys' Top 28 Tournament; and
8 WHEREAS, the thrilling victory was a memorable one for the Hornets, as it was
9Arcadia High School's first state title in boys' basketball; and
10 WHEREAS, the Hornets were led by Travious Fielding, who finished with nineteen
11points, four assists, and was later named the most outstanding player of the game;
12Danquarian Fields added eighteen points to the final score and twelve rebounds, and
13Anthony Boston, Jr., finished the game with fourteen points; and
14 WHEREAS, the 2015-2016 Arcadia High School boys' basketball team consists of
15Jarrion Hampton, Kordel Cortez, Travious Fielding, Brian Davis, Nickalus Weaver, Jacobie
16Fields, Anthony Boston, Jr., Corey Russell, Jr., Dwight Thomas, II, Jatavious Graham,
17Danquarian Fields, Elanceo Richardson, Rozerrick Abney, Andrew Russell, Jamarcus Gray,
18and Brandon Rallins; and
19 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
20without the guidance and skills of head coach Marcus Jackson and assistant coaches

1DeAndre Alexander and Tevin Champion, as well as all of the other individuals who have
2contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and
3 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2015-2016 season upholds the glorious tradition
4of the Hornets, and all Arcadia High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride
5and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
7Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Arcadia High School boys' basketball
8team upon winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship and does hereby extend best
9wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program as
10they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
12to head coach Marcus Jackson.
