ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 84 BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON A RESOLUTION To commend the Arcadia High School boys' basketball team upon winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship. WHEREAS, the Arcadia High School boys' basketball team completed a sensational season, earning the title of 2016 Class 1A state champions after defeating Southern Lab by a score of 55-48 to win the state championship game at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Allstate Sugar Bowl Boys' Top 28 Tournament; and WHEREAS, the thrilling victory was a memorable one for the Hornets, as it was Arcadia High School's first state title in boys' basketball; and WHEREAS, the Hornets were led by Travious Fielding, who finished with nineteen points, four assists, and was later named the most outstanding player of the game; Danquarian Fields added eighteen points to the final score and twelve rebounds, and Anthony Boston, Jr., finished the game with fourteen points; and WHEREAS, the 2015-2016 Arcadia High School boys' basketball team consists of Jarrion Hampton, Kordel Cortez, Travious Fielding, Brian Davis, Nickalus Weaver, Jacobie Fields, Anthony Boston, Jr., Corey Russell, Jr., Dwight Thomas, II, Jatavious Graham, Danquarian Fields, Elanceo Richardson, Rozerrick Abney, Andrew Russell, Jamarcus Gray, and Brandon Rallins; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of head coach Marcus Jackson and assistant coaches DeAndre Alexander and Tevin Champion, as well as all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2015-2016 season upholds the glorious tradition of the Hornets, and all Arcadia High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 84 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Arcadia High School boys' basketball team upon winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
