HLS 16RS-3195 ORIGINAL 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 94 BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Keep Louisiana Beautiful organization 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend the Keep Louisiana Beautiful organization and to recognize its efforts to 3 promote personal, corporate, and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful 4 Louisiana. 5 WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful was founded in 2000; the organization 6focuses on education, enforcement, awareness, litter removal, and beautification; and 7 WHEREAS, the organization provides the necessary tools and resources to the 8citizens of Louisiana to improve communities throughout the state; and 9 WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful was the diamond level recipient of The 10President's Circle Award by Keep America Beautiful; this distinguished award recognizes 11exemplary performance made by certified affiliates of the national nonprofit organization 12in creating clean, green, and beautiful communities; and 13 WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful has issued $2.7 million in grants to local 14communities for anti-litter programs and cleanups; in 2015, the organization brought over 15twenty-eight thousand people together through an affiliate volunteer workforce; and 16 WHEREAS, Governor John Bel Edwards declared Thursday, April 21, 2016, as 17Keep Louisiana Beautiful Day in the state of Louisiana; and 18 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Keep Louisiana Beautiful for its focus on 19education, enforcement, awareness, litter removal, and beautification. 20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Keep Louisiana Beautiful organization Page 1 of 2 HLS 16RS-3195 ORIGINAL HR NO. 94 1and does hereby recognize the organization's extraordinary efforts to promote a clean and 2beautiful Louisiana. 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 4to Susan Russell, executive director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
