ACT 270 (SB 106) 2016 Regular Session Boudreaux
Prior law authorized each clerk of a district court and the Second City Court in the city of
New Orleans to issue short-form birth certificate cards and long-form birth certificates and
death certificates. Provided that in addition to fees collected for issuance of a birth record or
death certificate, the clerk shall collect a fee of five dollars for a short-form birth certificate
and nine dollars for a long-form birth certificate or death certificate.
New law retains these provisions and provides that a short-form birth certificate card can be
purchased only by an individual who also purchases a long-form birth certificate in the same
transaction.
Effective upon signature of the governor (May 27, 2016).
