Present law provides an exception to the general rule that no suit against a political subdivision of
the state shall be tried by jury. Present law provides that, except upon demand for jury trial timely
filed in accordance with law by the city of Baton Rouge or the parish of East Baton Rouge or the
plaintiff in a lawsuit against the city of Baton Rouge or the parish of East Baton Rouge, no suit
against the city of Baton Rouge or the parish of East Baton Rouge shall be tried by jury.
Proposed law repeals present law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
