ROADS/HIGHWAYS. Authorizes LTA to undertake state-designated priority "A" or "B"

1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 48:2078(A), relative to the Louisiana Transportation Authority;
3 to authorize the authority to undertake certain projects in the Louisiana Statewide
4 Transportation Plan; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 48:2078(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง2078. State-designated projects; department approval
8 A. The authority may, upon obtaining the approval of the department,
9 undertake a state-designated project for a transportation improvement designated
10 as a Priority "A" or "B" Megaproject in the 2015 Louisiana Statewide
11 Transportation Plan prepared by the department as a project under this Chapter.

13 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
14 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
15 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
16 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
17 effective on the day following such approval.

Present law authorizes the Louisiana Transportation Authority (LTA), upon obtaining
approval from the DOTD, to undertake a state-designated project.
Proposed law authorizes the LTA to undertake a state-designated project for a transportation
improvement designated as a Priority "A" or "B" Megaproject in the 2015 Louisiana
Statewide Transportation Plan.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
