The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Curry Lann. DIGEST SB 161 Engrossed 2016 Regular Session Chabert Present law requires a retail seafood dealer's license for anyone buying, acquiring, or handling any species of fish, whether fresh, frozen, processed, or unprocessed that sells to a consumer for personal or household use or any person who ships for personal or household use. Present law exempts from the retail seafood dealer's license requirement restaurants and retail grocers who purchase fish from a licensed wholesale/retail dealer and only sell such fish fully prepared by cooking for immediate consumption. Proposed law retains present law, except only requires the fish be fully prepared to qualify for the exemption and removes the cooking requirement. Effective August 1, 2016.
