DIGEST SB 24 Original 2016 Regular Session Martiny Present law provides for ameliorative penalty provisions and parole eligibility. Proposed law retains present law and provides that unless eligible for parole consideration at an earlier date, a person committed to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, if eligible for relief under certain ameliorative penalty provisions, including those serving a life sentence with or without additional terms of years, will be eligible for parole consideration upon serving 15 years in actual custody.
