(8/1/16) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 17:81(A)(7), relative to the powers of local public school boards; to provide 3 for local school board policies and procedures; to provide relative to contracting 4 authority; to require contracts to comply with local public school board policy; and 5 to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 17:81(A)(7) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง81. DIGEST SB 355 Reengrossed 2016 Regular Session Cortez Present law (R.S. 17:81) provides for the general powers of local public school boards. Proposed law requires that any person purporting to enter into any contract on behalf of the school district or schools under the board's jurisdiction, including but not limited to contracts with vendors or contracts of membership in any private or quasi-public entity, comply with policies and procedures adopted by the local public school board in effect at the time the contract is executed. Proposed law specifies that it does not apply to any contract in effect on July 31, 2016, but shall apply to any new contract, renewal or extension of an existing contract executed on or after Aug. 1, 2016.
