Present law exempts certain emergency vehicles when utilized in the performance of their official
duties from the payment of tolls to cross the Tomey J. Doucet Bridge on LA 1 as follows:
(1)Ambulances of the Grand Isle Emergency Vehicle Services.
(2)Official vehicles of the Grand Isle Independent Levee District.
(3)Official vehicles and a medical transportation van of the town of Grand Isle.
(4)Official, logo-bearing vehicles of the Grand Isle Port Commission official.
Present law exempts any permanent resident of Grand Isle from the payment of tolls when crossing
the Tomey J. Doucet Bridge when the resident purchases an exempt toll tag, presents a certificate
of motor vehicle registration, and any one of the following documents for proof of residency:
(1)An official La. driver's license.
(2)A homestead exemption card.
(3)A voter registration card.
Proposed law expands toll exemption to include any permanent resident of the parish of Lafourche
domiciled in U. S. Postal Service ZIP code 70357 south of the bridge. Adds that the LA driver's
license is valid.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
