SENATE BILL NO. 463

COURTS.  Provides relative to Judicial Building Fund for Civil District Court for the parish
of Orleans. (8/1/16)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:996.67(D), relative to the judicial building fund for the Civil
3 District Court for the parish of Orleans; to provide relative to conditions and dates
4 for certain activity; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 13:996.67(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง996.67. Judicial building fund

9	D. If by August 15, 2016 2017, neither public bids have been let for
10 construction nor a lease agreement executed for a privately constructed facility for
11 use as a courthouse, then the authority provided in this Section to levy the additional
12 costs and charges shall terminate and be null and void. Thereafter, no costs or
13 charges authorized in this Section shall be imposed or collected. If the authority to
14 levy such costs and charges terminates as set forth herein, all funds collected and
15 deposited in the separate account as provided in this Section shall be used solely for
16 capital improvements to the facility then housing the Civil District Court for the
17 parish of Orleans.

Proposed law relative to the judicial building fund for the Orleans Civil District Court
extends the present law deadline from August 15, 2016, to August 15, 2017, for public bids
to be let for construction and a lease agreement to be executed for a privately constructed
facility for use as a courthouse, therefore maintaining the authority to levy the additional
costs and charges authorized under present law.
