A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of Senior Trooper Steven James Vincent, Unit Number D-57 of the Louisiana
State Police.
WHEREAS, it is with deep sadness and profound sorrow that the members of the
Legislature of Louisiana learned of the passing of Trooper Steven Vincent on August 24,
2015, at the age of forty-four, as a result of injuries he sustained in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, Steven Vincent was known as a deeply devoted husband, father, and
son, an honorable veteran, and a dedicated law enforcement officer to the citizens of
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, those who knew Steven Vincent would say he lived a tremendously
enriched life, in his faith and in his love for his family which he expressed often to his wife,
Katherine Tilley Vincent; son, nine year old Ethan James Vincent; father, James Howard
Vincent; mother Mildred Marie Arabie Vincent; and sisters, Renae Perry and Miranda

Priola; two brothers, Keith and Terrell Vincent; and extended family members and friends;
and
WHEREAS, as a life-long resident of Louisiana, Steven Vincent lived in the town
of Iowa, graduated from Iowa High School, attended LSU Eunice and McNeese State
University, and later graduated from the Louisiana State Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, Steven Vincent's love for his country led him to serve courageously in
the United States Army during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and
WHEREAS, law enforcement being a family tradition, led Steven Vincent to serve
with the Lake Charles Police Department for eleven years and the Louisiana State Police for
thirteen years, while his brother Keith Vincent serves as Chief of Police of the town of Iowa,
Louisiana and his brother Terrell Vincent serves as a fellow Louisiana State Trooper; and
WHEREAS, Colonel Michael Edmonson, Superintendent of Louisiana State Police,
said it best when he stated, "Trooper Vincent embodied what it meant to be a Louisiana State
Trooper and a first responder. He epitomized all that is great about our organization. He
didn't just believe in our core values; he lived them. The citizens of this state were well
served by Vincent"; and
WHEREAS, while Senior Trooper Steven Vincent was truly one of Louisiana's finest
citizens who left too soon, he will always be remembered; as Abraham Lincoln once said,
"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years".
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Senior Trooper Steven James
Vincent and does hereby acknowledge a life well spent in service to his God, family,
country, and the citizens of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to his
family.
