SLS 16RS-609 ORIGINAL 2016 Regular Session SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 20 BY SENATOR ERDEY MOTOR VEHICLES. Expresses intent of Legislature of Louisiana for enforcement of laws regulating glass tinting on all private passenger vehicles. 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2 To express the intent of the Legislature of Louisiana that the Department of Public Safety 3 and Corrections, public safety services, and the office of motor vehicles enforce laws 4 that regulate glass tinting on motor vehicles and particularly on private passenger 5 vehicles. 6 WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana has passed laws that regulate and control 7 the tinting of glass on motor vehicles; and 8 WHEREAS, R.S. 32:361.1 prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle with any 9 transparent material placed upon or affixed to the front windshield or front side windows if 10 the material alters the color or reduces the light transmission of the windshield or front side 11 windows; and 12 WHEREAS, R.S. 32:361.2 provides an exemption from the provisions of R.S. 13 32:361.1 for certain physical or medical conditions subject to compliance with requirements 14 specified therein; and 15 WHEREAS, R.S. 32:361.3 provides an exemption from the provisions of R.S. 16 32:361.1 for valid security reasons subject to compliance with requirements specified 17 therein; and 18 WHEREAS, enforcement of the provisions of R.S. 32:361.1, 362.2, and 362.3 is Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 20 SLS 16RS-609 ORIGINAL 1 critical to the health, safety, and welfare of all citizens of this state. 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 3 express its specific intent that the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, public safety 4 services, and the office of motor vehicles enforce laws that regulate glass tinting on motor 5 vehicles and particularly on private passenger vehicles. 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 7 deputy secretary for the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, public safety services, 8 and to the commissioner of the office of motor vehicles.
