SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 28
BY SENATOR CLAITOR AND REPRESENTATIVES STEVE CARTER AND FOIL 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Karl
Erich Krousel, Baton Rouge native and accomplished local attorney.
WHEREAS, Karl Erich Krousel, who died on January 29, 2016, was the son of
Walter R. Krousel Jr. and Hilda Sanchez Krousel, born in Baton Rouge on December 28,
1962; and
WHEREAS, Karl lived in Baton Rouge his entire life, graduating from Catholic High
School in 1981, where, as a member of the wrestling team, he was named City Wrestling
Champion; and
WHEREAS, moving from the Catholic High School campus to the Louisiana State
University campus, Krousel earned his undergraduate degree in 1986 and graduated from
the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1989, following his father and two of his siblings
into the practice of law; and
WHEREAS, beginning his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph S.
Keogh Sr. of the Nineteenth Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge, Karl followed that
clerkship to a law career spanning twenty-seven years in private practice; and
WHEREAS, Karl was an accomplished attorney and established his own successful
law firm, where his clients were devoted to him and he was respected by the legal
community; and
WHEREAS, evidence of this respect is indicated by a recent invitation from the
Baton Rouge Bar Association for Krousel to record a video on professionalism and ethics
in relation to the practice of law; and
WHEREAS, Krousel lived a life filled with powerful enthusiasm, deep commitments
and passionate pursuits, particularly his commitment to bettering life for the underprivileged;
and

WHEREAS, this commitment to the underprivileged most recently led Karl to
participate in volunteer efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake in 2010, and
his ongoing efforts in support of the Gardere Community Christian School, a private,
nondenominational school serving children living in the Gardere neighborhood of south
Baton Rouge; and
WHEREAS, a typical Louisianian, Krousel loved to hunt and fish and pursued a
variety of outdoor activities; and
WHEREAS, Karl was a fun-loving and intelligent person, as well as a gifted athlete,
and he was fiercely loyal to family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Karl was a devoted son, brother, father and grandfather and he leaves
a large family and many friends to cherish their recollections of him and to treasure the
many memories each has of him; and
WHEREAS, Karl was preceded in death by his son, Kohl Richard Krousel and
surviving Karl are his parents, siblings, many friends and, especially, his children Karl Erich
Krousel Jr. and wife Jessie, Jake Alexander Krousel, and Allie Katelyn Krousel, and
grandchildren, Landon and Soryn Krousel.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express its sincere condolences upon the death of Karl Erich Krousel, Baton Rouge native
and accomplished local attorney.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to his
children Karl Krousel Jr. and Jake and Allie Krousel.
