SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 36

TRANSPORTATION/DEV DEPT. Requests DOTD to study the feasibility of new
interchanges on I-12 at LA 1032 (4H-Club Road) and at LA 16 (Pete's Highway).
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study the
3 feasibility of a new interstate interchange on I-12 at Louisiana Highway 1032
4 (4H-Club Road) and a new interstate interchange on I-12 at Louisiana Highway 16
5 (Pete's Highway).
6 WHEREAS, increased traffic volumes on I-12, Louisiana Highway 3002 (South
7 Range Avenue), Louisiana Highway 16 (Pete's Highway), and Louisiana Highway 1032
8 (4H-Club Road) in Livingston Parish continue to impact the quality of life and economic
9 development in the area; and
10 WHEREAS, traffic counts reveal that more than forty-five thousand vehicles exit the
11 I-12 interchange at Louisiana Highway 3002 (South Range Avenue) daily causing severe
12 traffic congestion; and
13 WHEREAS, the I-12 interchange at Louisiana Highway 3002 (South Range Avenue)
14 is the primary access into the city of Denham Springs and the community of Watson; and
15 WHEREAS, westbound traffic on I-12 exiting at the Louisiana Highway 3002 (South
16 Range Avenue) interchange backs up on the far right lane of I-12 creating an unsafe highway
17 hazard; and
18 WHEREAS, construction of a new interchange on I-12 at Louisiana Highway 1032

1 (4H-Club Road) and a new interchange at Louisiana Highway 16 (Pete's Highway) will
2 relieve traffic congestion and improve traffic flow in the area.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
4 urge and request that the Department of Transportation and Development study the
5 feasibility of a new interchange on I-12 at Louisiana Highway 1032 (4H-Club Road) and a
6 new interchange on I-12 at Louisiana Highway 16 (Pete's Highway) and to report its findings
7 and recommendations to the Senate and House committees on transportation, highways, and
8 public works not later than March 1, 2017.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
10 secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
