SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 43

TRANSPORTATION/DEV DEPT. Requests DOTD to study the feasibility of corporate
sponsorship of bridges, other infrastructure, or equipment.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study the
3 feasibility of corporate sponsorship of state bridges, other department infrastructure,
4 or equipment.
5 WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana's infrastructure is aging and existing resources
6 limit the Department of Transportation and Development's ability to address increasing
7 needs; and
8 WHEREAS, corporate sponsorship of the state's bridges, other department
9 infrastructure, or equipment may generate sufficient revenue to justify such action and to
10 assist in meeting bridge, other infrastructure, or equipment needs; and
11 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Youth Advisory Council sought to determine whether
12 corporate bridge sponsorship is feasible; and
13 WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation and Development has the knowledge,
14 expertise, and information to identify and consider the factors necessary to make a feasibility
15 determination.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
17 urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study the feasibility
18 of corporate sponsorship of state bridges, other department infrastructure, or equipment.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the department shall prepare and submit a final
2 report that contains the results of the study requested by this Resolution to the House and
3 Senate committees on transportation, highways and public works no later than February 1,
4 2017.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
6 secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
