SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 56
BY SENATORS GARY SMITH AND BROWN AND REPRESENTATIVES GREGORY
MILLER AND SCHEXNAYDER 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Deputy Lisa Dorris on receiving a 2015 Life Saving
Award.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Deputy Lisa Dorris of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office on receipt of a
3 2015 Life Saving Award and for her dedication to the protection of her fellow
4 citizens.
5 WHEREAS, Deputy Lisa Dorris is currently assigned to the 200 patrol shift as a
6 Traffic Officer; and
7 WHEREAS, on August 15, 2015, Deputy Dorris was completing a funeral escort
8 when she responded to a request from bystanders regarding an unresponsive woman; and
9 WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris responded immediately and notified headquarters and
10 began cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the woman after confirming she was not breathing;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris' efforts were successful as the woman began to take
13 shallow breaths while she was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation waiting for
14 emergency medical services to arrive at the scene; and
15 WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris remained with the woman until she was taken by
16 emergency medical personnel to the hospital; and
17 WHEREAS, the woman, due in large part to the quick and heroic actions of Deputy
18 Dorris, made quick progress in her recovery and was physically and verbally responsive to

1 hospital staff only hours later; and
2 WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris' swift and heroic actions went above the call of duty and
3 played a large role in saving the woman's life and demonstrates her steadfast commitment
4 to her position as a law enforcement officer and to the people of St. John the Baptist Parish.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
6 commend Deputy Lisa Dorris from the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office for her receipt
7 of a 2015 Lifesaving Award and for her dedication to the protection of her fellow citizens.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
9 Deputy Lisa Dorris of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office.
