SLS 16RS-2665 ORIGINAL 2016 Regular Session SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 110 BY SENATOR CLAITOR COMMENDATIONS. Commends Catholic High School Coach Pete Boudreaux upon his induction into the National High School Hall of Fame. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend and congratulate Catholic High School Coach Pete Boudreaux upon his 3 induction into the National High School Hall of Fame. 4 WHEREAS, Pete Boudreaux graduated from Catholic High School in 1959, and he 5 furthered his education at Louisiana State University; and 6 WHEREAS, showing his exceptional athletic ability at a young age, Mr. Boudreaux 7 was a Southeastern Conference Champion and a pole vault record holder; and 8 WHEREAS, in 1966, Mr. Boudreaux returned to Catholic High School, where he has 9 served as a history teacher, guidance counselor, head of guidance, chair of the physical 10 education department, athletic director, and as head coach for track and cross country; and 11 WHEREAS, throughout his forty-eight year career at Catholic High School, Coach 12 Boudreaux has captured forty-three track and cross country titles; recently, he lead the Bears 13 to a second place finish in the Division I Louisiana High School Athletic Association Indoor 14 State meet; his team is also the reigning Class 5A outdoor track champion; and 15 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux's teams have won sixteen state titles in cross country, 16 twelve state titles in indoor track, and fifteen state titles in outdoor track; his teams have also 17 finished as a state runner-up twenty-one times; and 18 WHEREAS, in 2000, Coach Boudreaux was inducted into the Louisiana High School Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 110 SLS 16RS-2665 ORIGINAL 1 Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2014, he became the first high school track coach inducted into 2 the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame; and 3 WHEREAS, he was also inducted into the Catholic High School Hall of Fame and 4 the LSU Track Officials Hall of Fame; and 5 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux has been named Louisiana Coach of the Year, 6 Athletic Director of the Year, and National High School Regional Coach of the Year; and 7 WHEREAS, he has served as a past president of the Louisiana High School Coaches 8 Association, and he served on the executive committee of the Louisiana High School 9 Athletic Directors Association; he was named to the United States Olympics Sports Festival 10 coaching staff, served on the staff for the USA vs. Great Britain meet in Edinburgh, 11 Scotland, in 1993, and was a staff member for the Junior World Championships in Annecy, 12 France, in 1998; and 13 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux is respected and admired for the wonderful guidance 14 he gives to his athletes both on and off the track, as he challenges them to succeed not only 15 as athletes but as well-rounded human beings; and 16 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux merits a special measure of commendation for his 17 highly significant achievements and for his induction into the National High School Hall of 18 Fame. 19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 20 does hereby commend and congratulate Catholic High School Coach Pete Boudreaux for his 21 induction into the National High School Hall of Fame; does hereby recognize and record for 22 posterity his outstanding accomplishments and his incredible legacy; and does hereby extend 23 to him every good wish for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors. 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Pete 25 Boudreaux.
