2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138 BY SENATOR JOHNS A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Della Gary for sixty years of dedicated service at the CITGO Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex. WHEREAS, Payroll Supervisor Della Gary celebrates her sixtieth service anniversary at the CITGO Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex on May 25, 2016; and WHEREAS, a native of Iowa, Louisiana, Della began her career at the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery as a mail clerk in 1956 delivering mail to office and field personnel on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, just six months later, she was promoted to a payroll clerk where she manually imported information from timecards for an appropriate tally for employee paychecks; and WHEREAS, Della was elevated to Payroll Supervisor in 1980 and has been in that position since then; and WHEREAS, for six decades, Della has shown her dedication, accuracy, and work ethic in the Payroll Division and is currently the longest serving CITGO employee on record; and WHEREAS, Della has witnessed the transition from typewriters being used to manually type checks to the use of computers and check printers to no checks-direct deposit and the change from manual input of employee time for payroll purposes to an automated system; and WHEREAS, Della Gary was recognized at CITGO for her efforts at LCMC during the aftermath of Hurricane Rita during which period Della and her department lived in FEMA trailers referenced as "Ritaville" onsite for two weeks to ensure work hours were being recorded and payroll could be processed; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 138 ENROLLED WHEREAS, in 2015, Della was featured in the book and video documentary, "The Forgotten Storm" that CITGO Lake Charles produced about its story during Hurricane Rita; and WHEREAS, Della was nominated by her peers in 2013 as a CITGO Presidential Award recipient and was honored with the award at a special awards celebration at the CITGO Corporate Headquarters in Houston, Texas; and WHEREAS, Della's tenure at CITGO is a remarkable accomplishment which not only inspires others to strive for long-term dedication, but she also sets the example of a superior commitment to excellence and work ethics for which she is highly esteemed by her peers and dearly loved at CITGO. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Della Gary for sixty years of dedicated service at the CITGO Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex.
