A RESOLUTION
To commend Louisiana best selling author James Lee Burke for his literary
accomplishments and to recognize the inaugural Dave Robicheaux's Hometown
Literary Festival.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Senate of Louisiana
recognize Louisiana author James Lee Burke and recognize one of his most famous fictional
characters, detective Dave Robicheaux, who prowls South Louisiana fighting crime in the
inaugural Dave Robicheaux's Hometown Literary Festival: Celebrating Storytellers from
Iberia & Beyond to be held April 8-10, 2016 in New Iberia, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the festival will have storytelling, theatrical vignettes, movies, music,
local cuisine, bourre' lessons, an academic symposium and, of course, tours of the places the
fictional Dave Robicheaux has roamed; and 
WHEREAS, the seventy-nine year old best selling author James Lee Burke has put
New Iberia, Louisiana, on the map, bringing tourists to see the places his fictional character
Dave Robicheaux visits in his novels; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon men with
imaginations like James Lee Burke. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Louisiana best selling author James Lee Burke for his numerous
literary accomplishments and pays tribute to him by recognizing the inaugural Dave
Robicheaux's Hometown Literary Festival.
