SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 81

SENATE. Commends Keep Louisiana Beautiful on its efforts to build and sustain vibrant,
clean communities through education, volunteerism, and enforcement.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Keep Louisiana Beautiful on its exemplary efforts to build
3 and sustain vibrant, clean communities throughout Louisiana through education,
4 volunteerism, and enforcement.
5 WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful is the state's leading nonprofit that brings over
6 28,000 people together through an affiliate volunteer workforce to build and sustain vibrant,
7 clean communities; and
8 WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana spends over $40 million on litter abatement each
9 year; and
10 WHEREAS, since 2004, Keep Louisiana Beautiful has issued $2.7 million in grants
11 to local communities for anti-litter programs and cleanups, resulting in the fact that for every
12 $1 invested in Keep Louisiana Beautiful culminates in $34 in services and donations
13 delivered to these communities; and
14 WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful educates and empowers future generations
15 of environmental steward, providing tools and resources to guide understanding and actions
16 to reduce litter, increase recycling, and protect the natural areas of Louisiana, ensuring its
17 beauty as its lasting impression; and
18 WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful collaborates with city and parish governments

1 as well as numerous state agencies which help carry out the shared mission to promote
2 personal, corporate and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana; and
3 WHEREAS, Governor John Bel Edwards officially declared April 21, 2016, as Keep
4 Louisiana Beautiful Day.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 hereby commends and congratulates Keep Louisiana Beautiful on its exemplary efforts to
7 build and sustain vibrant, clean communities throughout Louisiana through education,
8 volunteerism, and enforcement.
