Expresses condolences on the death of Lorelia Jean Henry. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express sincere and heartfelt condolences on the death of Lorelia Jean Henry. 3 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana 4 learned of the death of Lorelia Jean Henry on April 17, 2016, at the age of eighty-four; and 5 WHEREAS, Lorelia Jean Henry was born on June 13, 1931, to Walter and 6 Bernadette Gallien Jean; and 7 WHEREAS, she was united in marriage to Eligha Henry on March 15, 1950, and five 8 children were born of their union; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Henry devoted her life to loving her family; and 10 WHEREAS, she was a very caring, loving wife and mother to all who knew her and 11 her home was always open to her family and friends; and 12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Henry was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Roman Catholic 13 Church in Cankton, Louisiana, and a member of the Ladies Altar Society; and 14 WHEREAS, she is survived by three daughters, Barbara Singleton, Bernadette 15 Dominque, and Bridget Michelle Henry; eleven grandchildren, Brandy Singleton, LaKeisha 16 Singleton, Kalsha Simon, Oren Simon Jr., Melinda Simon, Melissa Simon, Alondra 17 Dominque, Elysa Dominque, Kami Perkins, Mallory Perkins, and Lainee Perkins; and eleven 18 great-grandchildren, Leander Guillory III, Larenze Guillory, Jazmine Dena Duplechain, Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 94 SLS 16RS-2125 ORIGINAL 1 Oren Simon III, Draylin Simon, Ariel Simon, Areyonia Prejean, Alyciea Prejean, Jakori 2 Simon, Gabrielle Alfred, and Tamryn Simon; and 3 WHEREAS, Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and 4 Bernadette Gallien Jean; her husband, Eligha Henry; one daughter, Sheryl Simon; one infant 5 son; four brothers, Lester Jean, Edgar Jean, Sidney Jean, and Arthur Jean; and two sisters, 6 Orelia J. Leday and Irene J. McCarthy; and 7 WHEREAS, Lorelia Jean Henry, who was admired by all whose lives she touched, 8 leaves behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly missed; and 9 WHEREAS, with the death of Lorelia Jean Henry, Louisiana has lost one of its finest 10 citizens and her memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved 11 her. 12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 13 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Lorelia Jean Henry, 14 and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that the memory of 15 this loving and caring lady will forever bring to her family, friends, community, and the state 16 of Louisiana.
