2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 95 BY SENATORS BOUDREAUX, ALARIO, CORTEZ AND PERRY A RESOLUTION To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Gerald J. "Hammy" Patin. WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the citizens and the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Gerald J. "Hammy" Patin on April 7, 2016, at the age of seventy-nine; and WHEREAS, he was known as a quarter horse and thoroughbred owner and trainer, and his horses raced at most tracks throughout the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, he owned and operated the nationally recognized Ace Hunting Club and also co-owned Lafayette Concrete; and WHEREAS, he was an exemplary and highly admired citizen of Louisiana who worked tirelessly on a multitude of business, civic, religious, and political causes throughout his lifetime; and WHEREAS, upon his death the world lost a unique individual who left an indelible mark upon his community, and his state and the lives of all those who knew him; and WHEREAS, he was a loving, devoted, and dedicated husband to his wife of twenty-nine years, Judy Bonin Patin, a committed father, and a cherished grandfather, (fondly called "Big Daddy" by his grandchildren), a brother, uncle, relative, and friend whose love of family was of the utmost importance in his life; and WHEREAS, this extraordinary man clearly demonstrated during his life his dedication to his family, job, community, state, and country; and WHEREAS, his numerous accomplishments in public and private life reflected his compassion and commitment to others, and everyone who had the privilege to know him, loved him; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure on people like Gerald J. "Hammy" Patin who dedicated his life to the betterment of others. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 95 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby honor the life of Gerald J. "Hammy" Patin and pays tribute to his remarkable legacy, and offers sincere condolences to his family.
