PLANNING/ZONING-LOCAL: Provides relative to compensation for members of the
Livingston Parish planning commission for attending meetings
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 33:103(C)(1)(n), relative to the Livingston Parish planning commission; to
3 authorize the governing authority of the parish to pay members a per diem for
4 attending commission meetings; to provide relative to the amount of the per diem
5 and for the number of meetings for which members may be paid; and to provide for
6 related matters.
7 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
8 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
9 Louisiana.
10Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
11 Section 1. R.S. 33:103(C)(1)(n) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
12 ยง103. Planning commission; membership; appointment

14 C. (1) All members of a commission, whether a parish or a municipal
15 planning commission, shall serve without compensation, except as otherwise
16 provided by this Paragraph or as otherwise provided by law, and shall hold no other
17 public office, except they may also serve as members of any duly constituted
18 regional commission of which their parish or municipality forms a part.

1 (n) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the
2 governing authority of Livingston Parish may pay members of the parish planning
3 commission a per diem not to exceed one hundred dollars for attendance at meetings
4 of the commission for a maximum of twenty-four meetings per year.

Abstract: Authorizes the governing authority of Livingston Parish to pay per diem of up to
$100 to members of the parish council planning commission.
Present law authorizes parishes and municipalities to create planning commissions for the
purpose of making and adopting a master plan for the physical development of the parish or
municipality. Provides for composition of the commission. Requires members of a parish
or municipal planning commission to serve without compensation.
Proposed law retains present law but provides an exception for members of the Livingston
Parish planning commission. Authorizes the governing authority of Livingston Parish to pay
per diem to members of the commission for attending meetings of the commission. Provides
that per diem shall not be more than $100 and shall not be paid for more than 24 meetings
per year.
