Existing law provides for oyster harvest on Sabine Lake and Calcasieu Lake. Prior law
provided that such harvest may be by use of tongs, a hand scraper, or a single scraper with
mechanical assist and a flat bar length of no more than 36 inches.
New law limits the gear used for oyster harvest on Sabine Lake and Calcasieu Lake to hand
tonging.
Effective August 1, 2017.
