Abstract:  Prohibits the governing authority of any local municipality or parish from enacting
ordinances authorizing the use of automated speed enforcement devices to regulate traffic. 
Provides a definition for automated speed enforcement device.
Proposed constitutional amendment prohibits the governing authority of any local municipality or
parish from enacting ordinances authorizing the use of automated speed enforcement devices to
regulate traffic on any public street, road, or highway.
Proposed constitutional amendment defines "automated speed enforcement device" as meaning a
camera or optical device installed to work in conjunction with a traffic control signal or radar speed
detection equipment, or both.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
Oct. 14, 2017.
