ENROLLED ACT No. 119 2017 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 29 BY REPRESENTATIVES HOWARD, TERRY BROWN, STEVE CARTER, FRANKLIN, GISCLAIR, GUINN, PIERRE, POPE, AND STEFANSKI AND SENATOR JOHN SMITH 1 AN ACT 2 To redesignate a portion of United States Highway 171 in the village of Anacoco, Louisiana, 3 as the "Sergeant James Edward Martin Memorial Highway"; to provide relative to 4 a potential route designation conflict; and to provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the portion of 7 United States Highway 171 situated within the limits of the village of Anacoco, Louisiana, 8 in Vernon Parish, which is otherwise known as the "Purple Heart Highway", shall be known 9 and redesignated as the "Sergeant James Edward Martin Memorial Highway". 10 Section 2. To the extent that this designation is in conflict with Act No. 75 of the 11 2003 Regular Session of the Legislature, which included this portion of United States 12 Highway 171 in the route designated the "Purple Heart Highway", this designation shall 13 control and supersede the provisions set forth in Act No. 75 of the 2003 Regular Session of 14 the Legislature. 15 Section 3. The Department of Transportation and Development or its contractors are 16 hereby directed to erect and maintain appropriate signage reflecting this redesignation 17 provided local or private monies are received by the department equal to the department's 18 actual costs for the material, fabrication cost, mounting posts, and installation required for 19 installation of each sign, not to exceed the sum of five hundred fifty dollars per sign.
