HB 30 Original 2017 Regular Session Schexnayder
Abstract: Creates the "Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders" special prestige license plate. Provides for
fees, distribution of fees, issuance, creation, and design of the license plate and promulgation
of rules.
Proposed law requires the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to issue special
prestige license plates to be known as the "Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders" license plate.
Proposed law provides for the secretary to work in conjunction with the Louisiana Patriot Guard
Riders captain and assistant captain to select the color and design of the plate. Further requires the
design include the words "Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders".
Proposed law requires that the license plate be issued, upon application, to any citizen of Louisiana
in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.
Proposed law requires the department to collect an annual royalty fee of $25 for each plate issued
and specifies that such fees to be collected by the department and forwarded to the Louisiana Patriot
Guard Riders. Specifies that the monies received from the royalty fees shall be used solely to support
the activities of the Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders. Further provides for the standard license plate
handling fee of $3.50 for each plate, to be retained by the department to offset a portion of the
administrative costs.
Proposed law requires the secretary to promulgate and adopt rules and regulations to implement the
provisions provided in proposed law.
