RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 2 (HB 30) 2017 Regular Session Schexnayder New law requires the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to issue special prestige license plates to be known as the "Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders" license plate. New law requires the secretary to work in conjunction with the La. Patriot Guard Riders captain and assistant captain to select the color and design of the plate. Further requires the design include the words "Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders". New law requires that the license plate be issued, upon application, to any citizen of La. in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate. New law requires the department to collect an annual royalty fee of $25 for each plate issued and specifies that such fees be collected by the department and forwarded to the La. Patriot Guard Riders. Specifies that the monies received from the royalty fees must be used solely to support the activities of the La. Patriot Guard Riders. Further provides for the standard license plate handling fee of $3.50 for each plate, be retained by the department to offset a portion of the administrative costs. New law requires the secretary to promulgate and adopt rules and regulations to implement the provisions provided in new law. Effective January 1, 2018. (Adds R.S. 47:463.192)
