CHILDREN/ADOPTION: Provides for the acceptance of a child surrendered for adoption by the Department of Children and Family Services 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact Children's Code Article 1117(B), relative to the surrender of children 3 for adoption; to provide relative to the agencies who may accept the surrender of 4 children for adoption; and to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. Children's Code Article 1117(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read 7as follows: 8 Art. 1117. Domiciliary requirements; acceptance of surrender by agency on behalf 9 of resident adoptive parent 10 * * * 11 B. In order for a surrender to an agency to be effective, the agency accepting 12 the surrender shall either be the Department of Children and Family Services or have 13 been issued a child-placing or adoption license by the Department of Children and 14 Family Services department. 15 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 16signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 17by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 18vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 19effective on the day following such approval.
