HB 387 Original	2017 Regular Session	Terry Brown
Abstract: Provides for the purchase of firefighter training trailers from certain manufacturers and
dealers.
Proposed law defines "firefighter training trailer" as meaning any unit built specifically to train
firefighters that complies with the National Fire Protection Association codes and standards. Further
provides for the definition of "firefighter training trailer" to include any other training props and
trailer mounted equipment to be used in the training of firefighters in order to comply with the
National Fire Protection Association code and standard with respect to minimum job performance
requirements.
Proposed law authorizes the state, a local governmental subdivision, La. State University Fire and
Emergency Training Institute, and other firefighter related educational entities of the state to
purchase firefighter training trailers directly from a licensed manufacturer or a licensed dealer that
has a franchise with any manufacturer not licensed in the state.
Proposed law requires that a firefighter training trailer comply with the U.S. Dept. of Transportation
and La. standards regarding specific trailer safety, markings, weights, and other physical
requirements.
