Abstract:  Allows the parish-allocated portion of the timber severance tax be used for road
maintenance and construction.
Proposed law allows the funds received by the governing authority of the parishes of this state from
the timber severance tax to be used for road maintenance and construction of roads used primarily
by timber, logging, and lumber companies to harvest and transport timber.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry,
Aquaculture, and Rural Development to the original bill:
1. Remove the provision requiring the governing authority of a parish that receives timber
severance tax funds to use the funds solely for road maintenance and construction.
2. Remove the provision requiring the governing authority of any parish that receives
timber severance taxes to exhaust the funds received on road maintenance and
construction prior to requesting liability bonds or certificates of insurance from timber,
logging, or lumber companies.
