ENROLLED 2017 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 62 BY REPRESENTATIVE HALL 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 13:5554(FF), relative to payment of group insurance premiums for retirees 3 from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office; to provide for qualifications for and 4 payment of certain insurance premiums; and to provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 13:5554(FF) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง5554. Group insurance; kinds; amounts; subrogation 8 * * * 9 FF.(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the 10 premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first ten 11 thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section 12 shall be paid in full by the sheriff of Rapides Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, 13 for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office 14 hired on or after July 1, 2017, who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriff's 15 Pension and Relief Fund, have at least fifteen years of service with the Rapides 16 Parish Sheriff's Office, and are at least fifty-five years of age. 17 (2) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all 18 persons hired by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2017. 19 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 20 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 21 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
