COMMENDATIONS: Commends South Beauregard High School Golden Knights boys'
baseball team upon winning the 2017 Class 3A state championship
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the South Beauregard High School Golden Knights boys' baseball team upon
3 winning the 2017 Class 3A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the 2017 baseball season concluded with the South Beauregard High
5School Golden Knights baseball team making its second trip to the state championship game
6and, in doing so, earned its first state championship by any boys program in the schools
7history; and
8 WHEREAS, the Golden Knights completed an outstanding 2017 season with a win
9over the Iowa High School Yellow Jackets to claim the Class 3A state championship at
10McMurry Park in Sulphur, Louisiana; and
11 WHEREAS, the team put together a nearly flawless game with a score of ten to zero
12in just six innings; and
13 WHEREAS, the South Beauregard baseball team scored in each of the first four
14innings to take an eight to zero lead; and
15 WHEREAS, pitcher Logan Savoy was named the game's Most Outstanding Player
16after pitching a four hitter while striking out four, and adding an RBI single on offense; and
17 WHEREAS, the Golden Knights were powered to a win by Chance Clark who had
18two hits, drove in two runs, and scored twice; Jansen Fontenot who doubled twice and scored
19three runs; and Hayden Gunter who had three hits and drove in three runs; and
20 WHEREAS, Chance Clark, Jansen Fontenot, Hayden Gunter, and Logan Savoy led
21an eleven-man senior class that brought the Golden Knights to new heights; and

1 WHEREAS, every member of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,
2and contributed to the remarkable success of the school's baseball program; and
3 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without
4the leadership, dedication, and instruction of head coach Jeremy Deville and the assistant
5coaches who also played vital roles in player development; and
6 WHEREAS, the South Beauregard High School Golden Knights baseball team
7upholds the values and winning tradition of South Beauregard High School and makes all
8of Beauregard Parish and South Beauregard High School students, alumni, and fans proud;
9and
10 WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana wishes to recognize the well-deserved title
11which the South Beauregard High School Golden Knights baseball team earned, to commend
12the team for the ability they displayed, particularly at the most difficult level of competition,
13and to express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the team members and the coaching
14staff for the merits earned and the sportsmanship shown while achieving such a high honor
15for their school.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
17commend the South Beauregard High School Golden Knights baseball team for winning the
182017 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A state baseball championship;
19does hereby congratulate the Knights for a truly spectacular season; and does hereby
20recognize their outstanding performance and distinguished pride and honor that they have
21brought to their school and community.
22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
23to the head coach of the South Beauregard High School Golden Knights baseball team,
24Jeremy Deville.
