COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Logansport High School football team on winning
the 2016 Class 1A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Logansport High School football team on winning the 2016 Class 1A state
3 championship.
4 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Logansport High School football team
5on winning the 2016 Class 1A football state championship; and
6 WHEREAS, the Tigers of the Logansport High School football team completed a
7remarkable undefeated season by earning the title of 2016 Class 1A state champions after
8overcoming a twenty-two point fourth quarter deficit with twenty-eight unanswered points
9in the final ten minutes and thirty-nine seconds of the game to secure a thirty-four to twenty-
10eight win over seventeen-time state champion, Haynesville High School Golden Tornadoes;
11and
12 WHEREAS, this thrilling come from behind victory marked the second Class 1A
13state football championship for the school and the cumulation of a truly unforgettable season
14in which the Tigers outscored their opponents by an average of twenty-nine points per game;
15and
16 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
17throughout the 2016 regular season and playoffs, and each of these talented Tigers deserves
18recognition for his vital contributions to the winning effort: Tresmin Brown, Alex Calendar,
19Joe Caraway, Felix Coleman, Debell Crawford, Josh Darden, Trevion Daughtry, Gauge
20Deason, Austin Edgar, Terry Ford, Devin Gabriel, Lacadrian Gant, Demicko Gray, Holden
21Honaker, Roderick Horton, Jerrius Jackson, Madrid Johnson, Riley Jones, Michael Jordan,

1Michael Lilly, Brannon Lormand, Denver Martin, Carlton McCoy, Letreveon McKeever,
2Patrick Mims, Dakota Moody, Nigel Moore, Langston Murray, Torel Norris, Nakendric

7 WHEREAS, the team's amazing feats could not have been achieved without the
8unwavering dedication, support, and guidance of head coach, Kevin Magee, and his
9coaching staff: Kyle Creech, Donald Mayweather, Jentrell Oliver, Reagan Smith, Garland
10Spivey, Stephen Stroud, and Jared Timmons; as well as the passion of the many Tiger
11supporters who contributed to the success of the school's football program; and
12 WHEREAS, the Tigers extraordinary season led to a number of players being
13selected by the Louisiana Football Coaches Association as Class 1A all-state players, with
14Debell Crawford, Langston Murray, Nakendric Peterson, Dalton Shaw, and Braylen Wilson,
15receiving first-team selections; John Stephens, Jr., receiving a second-team selection;
16Langston Murray being selected first-team all-state as both an offensive and defensive
17lineman, Debell Crawford named Class 1A all-state Offensive Most Valuable Player, and
18head coach Kevin Magee named Class 1A Coach of the Year; and
19 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2016 season upholds the glorious tradition of the
20Tigers, and all alumni and fans recognize the tremendous honor, pride, and joy that the team
21brings to the Logansport High School, DeSoto Parish, and the state of Louisiana.
22 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
23Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Logansport High School football team
24on winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship; does hereby record for posterity this
25exceptional team's triumph in the great sport of football; and does hereby extend best wishes
26to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine football program as they
27celebrate their championship season and prepare for continued success in the future.
28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
29to Head Coach Kevin Magee.
