(gov sig) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 32:1254(O), relative to distribution and sale of motor vehicles; to provide for 3 a licensing exception for speciality vehicle dealers who manufacture wheeled, 4 armored personnel carriers for sale to law enforcement agencies; and to provide for 5 related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 32:1254(O) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง1254. Application for license; requirements for licensure; contents; licenses; 9 franchise filings; exceptions 10 * * * 11 O. Notwithstanding the provisions of this Chapter and the provisions of 12 Subsection N of this Section to the contrary, this Chapter shall not apply to 13 specialty vehicle dealers who manufacture wheeled, armored personnel carriers 14 for sale to law enforcement agencies and who do not maintain or have a place 15 of business in this state. 16 Section 2. DIGEST SB 107 Original 2017 Regular Session White Present law requires certain persons, including specialty vehicle dealers, to first obtain a license from the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission before engaging in business in this state, regardless of whether or not said person maintains or has a place or places of business in this state. Proposed law provides an exception to the provisions of present law and the rules and regulations of the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission for specialty vehicle dealers who manufacture wheeled, armored personnel carriers for sale to law enforcement agencies and who do not maintain or have a place of business in this state. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
