SB 215 Reengrossed 2017 Regular Session	Tarver
Present law provides relative to admission and enrollment requirements for charter schools.
Proposed law provides as follows:
(1) Authorizes a charter school to directly enroll the child of a faculty member, provided
the child meets all admission requirements for the school, in accordance with
procedures developed by its authorizer.
(2)Authorizes a charter school with a foreign immersion mission to directly enroll the
child of a foreign consular officer residing in La., provided the child meets all
mission-related and academic admission requirements established for the school, in
accordance with procedures developed by its authorizer.
Proposed law provides that no student admitted to a charter school pursuant to proposed law
shall be counted to determine whether such enrollment exceeds the capacity of a program,
class, grade level, or school.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.

faculty member under certain circumstances.
4. Delete language regarding the direct enrollment of a child of a faculty
member who is recruited from a foreign nation.
Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Education to the
reengrossed bill:
1. Delete proposed law that would have required a charter school to modify its
application and enrollment procedures to implement proposed law.
2. Provide that proposed law be administered in accordance with procedures
developed by a charter school's authorizer.
