Present law requires the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) to provide for
a statewide school and district accountability system.
Present law requires BESE to develop and implement a process to certify foreign language
immersion programs.
Proposed law retains present law and additionally requires BESE to annually award five additional
points to the school performance score of a school that offers a certified foreign language immersion
program.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
