ACT 324 (SB 239) 2017 Regular Session Morrell
Prior law provided for special prestige license plates for automobiles, including the "Animal
Friendly" prestige license plate.
Prior law provided for a $25 annual royalty fee and distributed the avails of the royalty fee
each quarter to the Pet Overpopulation Advisory Council.
New law increases the annual royalty fee to $35.
New law establishes a special prestige motor vehicle license plate to be known as the "Krewe
of NYX" plate, provided there is a minimum of 1,000 applicants for such plates. New law
provides that the special prestige license plate will be issued, upon application, to any
member in good standing of the Krewe of NYX.
New law creates annual royalty fee to provide for the creation, issuance, and design of the
"Krewe of NYX" special prestige license plate, and provides relative to the distribution of
monies collected from the "Krewe of NYX" plates.
Effective upon signature of the governor (June 22, 2017).
