ROADS/HIGHWAYS. Designates portions of certain state highways in memory of certain
police officers. (8/1/17)
1 AN ACT
2 To provide relative to state highways; to designate a portion of United States Highway 425
3 in the unincorporated community of Chase, in Franklin Parish, as the "Trooper
4 Bobby Smith 'Vision of Courage' Memorial Highway"; to designate a portion of
5 United States Highway 165 near the town of Sterlington, in Ouachita Parish, as the
6 "Sterlington Police Officer David Elahi Memorial Highway"; and to provide for
7 related matters.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, that portion of United
10 States Highway 425 between Stokes Bayou (structure number 0260612911) and Louisiana
11 Highway 1242 in the unincorporated community of Chase, in Franklin Parish, is hereby
12 designated as the "Trooper Bobby Smith 'Vision of Courage' Memorial Highway".
13 Section 2. That portion of United States Highway 165 between Louisiana Highway
14 134 and a point two and one-half miles south of Louisiana Highway 134 near the town of
15 Sterlington, in Ouachita Parish, is hereby designated as the "Sterlington Police Officer David
16 Elahi Memorial Highway".
17 Section 3. The Department of Transportation and Development is hereby directed

1 to erect and maintain appropriate signs of these designations, provided local or private
2 monies are received by the department to fabricate and install the signs.
